MAXINE WILLIAMS WRIGHT a native of Memphis, TN enjoys many aspects of performing arts; she’s a poet, actress, playwright, director, screenwriter, and published author. She majored in Theatre and Communications while attending Tennessee State University for three years, and obtained her Bachelor of Science from Morris Brown College.
With a genuine love and concern for the community, Maxi shared her talents in several capacities for more than thirty years. A member of Drama Ministry at Turner Chapel AME Church since 1995; she served as the President of the Drama Ministry from 2012 to August 2019. For seven years she directed the annual classic A Christmas Story According to Us Folks written by Rev. Dr. Kenneth E. Marcus. The 2018 Christmas Production directed by Maxi won the Taurean Award in May 2019 for ‘Best Spiritual Production’ by a Drama Ministry, as well as being nominated for ‘Outstanding New Playwright’ for the play The Corner. She is grateful for the opportunity to use her creative God given talents. Maxi knows God is always working behind the scenes; with Him “All Things Are Possible.”
